For Employers

  • GTES employs the apprentices and trainees.  Therefore GTES assumes all employment responsibility including any workers compensation claims, industrial relations issues etc;
  • The apprentices/trainees are paid by GTES.  As the client (or Host Employer) you will be direct debited for the cost of the apprentice/trainee for the previous week;
  • GTES do not invoice our Host Employers when the apprentice/trainee is on leave (annual, sick, public holidays or other) however you will be invoiced for TAFE days;
  • GTES return commencement and completion incentives (where applicable) back to our clients.  When a new apprentice/trainee who is eligible for the incentive passes the six month period a cheque for the government incentive amount is forwarded to you.  The same occurs with the completion payment following the apprentice/trainee’s completion;
  • Two weeks notice (in writing) is all that is required should you wish to ‘hand back’ the apprentice or trainee, although during the probationary period this is not required.  An apprentice or trainee may be handed back during this period with just a day’s notice;
  • Should you wish to have the apprentice/trainee paid a higher wage i.e. above Award rate, GTES can accommodate this requirement. This will not affect our administration charge which is at a flat rate.
  • The services of the GTES recruitment team is utilised when an apprentice/trainee has to be recruited.  This forms part of our full service and includes a pre-screening, literacy and numeracy testing, interviewing and reference checking;
  • All new apprentices and trainees we employ (where applicable) undergo a pre-employment functional/medical check ensuring no pre-existing medical conditions will impact their ability to learn and perform in the trade;
  • All apprentices and trainees are fully inducted into our company and undertake a comprehensive WHS training course prior to starting with the Host Employer;
  • GTES arrange all training needs including TAFE enrolments and AAC registration.  We also ensure all requirements such as tax forms, superannuation etc are taken care of;
  • GTES supply all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) that is required by the apprentice/trainee;
  • The apprentice’s TAFE enrolment fees are paid by GTES at the beginning of each year;
  • Trainee’s RTO fees are paid by GTES;
  • GTES offers all apprentices and trainees interest free loans to enable the purchase of tool kits and/or required text books;
  • GTES employ experienced WHS staff who are available to Host Employers for consultation regarding WHS policies and practices for your business;
  • The GTES payroll department monitor all applicable Awards ensuring that any changes are actioned as soon as possible.  As GTES is the apprentice/trainees’ employer any industrial relations issues are taken care of by our staff;
  • Should the apprentice or trainee require a “White Card” or other relevant training, in most cases GTES will cover the cost involved;
  • A GTES Field Officer is allocated to look after you and the apprentice/trainee(s) that you have placed with you.  The Field Officer visits regularly to make sure that everything is working smoothly for you and the apprentice/trainee.  They also monitor the apprentices’ TAFE progress (or trainee’s progress in their learning material), they ensure that PPE is in good condition and being used correctly and they are available to the apprentice/trainee should they have any issues that they may need assistance with.
